What if I am not Baptist?Opportunities are available for non-Baptist students too. Talk these over with your BCM Director or call us at 1.800.226.8584, ext. 3092.
What if I cannot serve this summer?Opportunities exist for you to pray and give financially so that others can serve.
Why a local interview? The primary purpose of a local interview is to offer support and encouragement as you seek what is God’s best for you this summer. The interview is a chance for you to verbalize your sense of God’s direction and where you are in your personal spiritual growth and ministry. Also the local committee makes sure you meet the qualifications (hours, GPA, etc.). The interview is not an opportunity to keep you from serving but rather an opportunity to have another group of people involved in your support. This committee will make the recommendation to the State Office for your placement and scholarship. This committee will be made up of your BCM Director, Church Collegiate Minister, BCM Associate, Intern and State Council member.
What can I expect at the State Mission’s Training weekend? You will be with other students from across Florida that have a heart for missions. It will include a time for worship, teaching times, small group interaction, a possible mission project, and a time of commissioning.
When do I need to talk to my parents? Now! The sooner the better! Don’t surprise them the day your application is due. They can feel free to call either your local BCM Staff or Church Collegiate Minister if they have questions. The Student Mission’s website contains a great deal of information designed specifically for your parents. (Please choose the Parent Information page).
Can I serve only part of the summer?Yes! There are shorter projects from 2 – 4 weeks. Let us know when you apply and the committee will work to help you find a place to serve.
Why do I have to enlist mission support partners?Mission support partners are friends, church members and family members that pledge to support you throughout the summer through prayer, encouragement, and/or financial gifts. These support people are essential for your success.
What can I do in preparation for this next summer?Develop your personal spiritual life and be involved in a ministry with people in your campus community. Missions do not start in May but rather now, where you are. Your BCM Director and/or Church College Minister will be more than willing to help you find helps for these areas.
